I enjoy going on Xbox Live and playing my 360 online, but I never can. I don't have an internet cable that I can use (my computer uses a wireless card). So whenever I want to go online, I usually go over to Greg's place and play there.

BUT.

Last night, with a little ingenuity, a lot of mistakes, and a healthy dose of resolve, the problem is fixed.

In layman's terms, Greg and I have set up my computer so that it redirects internet OUT of its ethernet card, and then we just plugged that into the Xbox.

Problem solved.

Now, you might be saying "That's not hard, anyone can do that." And sure, it's not hard at all. The Xbox 360 is designed to connect up to Microsoft computers.

Too bad I'm not using a Microsoft computer.

We managed to connect a Linux computer, inherently incompatible with Microsoft, to the Xbox 360.

Actually, the "inherently incompatible" part isn't that much of a big deal. But it's still not designed that way. You have to change a lot of settings, and mess around a lot with the configuration of both the computer and the Xbox.

Bridging a connection in Linux is hard, but bloody rewarding. Now I have Xbox Live at home. :D

This is where being "the nerd" really comes in handy. You can fix stuff on your own, instead of having to pay ridiculous amounts to get it looked at, let alone getting any word done. Suck it up, nerd-haters. We win this time.

Also, I'm really sick.
