Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.
1. Where do you want to be ten years from now?Overseas; settled down somewhere as a permanent citizen of a country where I fit in. At this point it looks like it'll be Canada, but we'll see. Work-wise, either something involving physical labour (shut up I like working), or something science-y.
2. What leaves you in awe?Simplicity is genius. Anything that involves piercing, overwhelmingly brilliant simplicity, especially in the face of complexity, will leave me in awe. Bonus points for subtlety.
3. What is your favourite medium of storytelling as a consumer? (Movie/book/comic etc?)It all depends on the story being told. Books potentially allow you to see more, but often that involved being told rather than shown. Movies and TV shows can potentially invoke what a book would have to tell you through imagery and music, but that can be hard to convey. Webcomics are amazing for characterisation, but can be limited in other ways, unless you take the Homestuck route and turn it into more than just pictures and words.
On the other hand, interactive mediums like games allow for a very broad scope - Portal 2 and Echo Bazaar tell their stories through their setting, Limbo, Deus Ex and Portal 1 tell their stories through their gameplay, Mass Effect and Don't Take It Personally, Babe tell you their stories through their characters and outright events. Unfortunately, a lot of the time, the story intended to be told either is not presented well, or the consumer is unable to take that story in through the way it is presented.
... and now that I've said
why I like it, I'll actually answer the question and say that games are my favourite medium, because of their ability to tell a story without cramming it down your throat. Not that that's always a bad thing, but the fact that there are other options appeals to me, especially when they are mixed and matched.
Also, anime. Its perspective, style of storytelling, and use of metaphor and unusual themes is something I like a lot.
4. Practicality aside, what is one thing you wish you could do before you die?
In terms of "omg one amazing thing", I don't know. Right now I'd be happy to just achieve my current goal - to get my trade and get outta here.
I suppose falling in "true" love, and actually having that love reciprocated, and living a happy life with my beloved, would be an amazing thing.
And right now I'm dying for a hug, but that would be like summoning a wish-granter then asking for a glass of water as one of my wishes. XD
5. What keeps you going when times are hard?Either letting go and just mindlessly working, or thinking about my friends, and where I want to be in the future.
6. What is the best thing about other people in general?Their ability to stimulate my mind. Someone who makes me think and understand and learn is the best person in the world and I love them already. And most people have the ability to do that just by letting me befriend 'em. In varying degrees, of course, but most people in general can do it. ^_^
7. What are you working on right now?I'm going to assume you mean about life in general: I'm working on my pre-vocational electrical course, which I will use to get into an apprenticeship.
... wait, you already know that. So maybe you mean hobbies etc? Um. I don't really have anything for you there. Nothing long-term, at least. TAFE doesn't leave much time for anything besides work (considering how early I have to leave for it, and how late I usually come home), and I spend what little free time I have unwinding by watching anime. However, when I can, I want to take up quite a few hobbies. Music and martial arts are the two biggest ones.
Heh. I don't really understand what the question is specifically referring to, but my best straight-up answer would be "studying at TAFE".
