shade1841. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
For the first time in three years, I was actually accepted for a job. Was made redundant after only four months, but it was better than nothing, for sure.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I never, ever make new year resolutions, 'cause I know I'll either forget or not give a shit.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Hahaha. For once, no.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in most of 2011?
A place of my own, a car, a secure job.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
11th of April, the day I started my job.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don't know if you can call it a single achievement, but I changed a lot this year as a person. I underwent complete paradigm shifts, several times, some literally taking only a few days; needless to say, I was extremely confused and strugging to deal with it all. But at last, I'm (mostly) stable again.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Failing to find another job.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yeah, I was fucked for almost a month early in the year.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new laptop.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
umbravita for her amazing improvement, and her decision to stick to her guns and not give up. And of course for helping me as I changed and reformed. She's a wonderful person, and an amazing friend. Chloe for taking me seriously when nobody else would or could. Charlotte for being a bro. :D
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
14. Where did most of your money go?
My laptop and phone. If I hadn't needed to get those, I would have been able to say it went into my car.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
All the threads and plans that I've been thinking about, finally starting to come together. :D
16. What song will always remind you of 2011?

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Drawing, musicing, writing. I probably should have done more job-hunting, too.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Wasting time.
20. How will you be spending Christmas and/or New Year's?
Christmas? At home. My family doesn't celebrate Christmas (which is probably better, considering the size of our family, but fuck, I miss Christmas so much).
New Year? I'll probably be doing something with Greg and Elfy. Unless, of course, they plan to kiss at midnight. I can usually handle being around them but that would just make me insanely jealous, since it's something I really, really want to do.
21. Did you fall in love in 2011?
No, actually. 2011 was, in fact, the least love-y year I've had for as long as I can remember. I'm at last fine with the idea of being single, to the point that I'm almost happier this way. Sometimes I get depressed and wish I was in a relationship, but that's just my mind looking for ways out, and I know that the root of the problem is boredom with my life. (Which is why I'd probably be envious of Greg and Elfy, I always get depressed by shit like that.) I would be willing to try one, but I'm not actively seeking one out.
22. How many one-night stands?
None.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Doctor Who (Nine), in equal measures.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.
25. What was the best book you read?
That awkward moment when you realise you've gone a whole year without sitting down and reading a book all the way through. Holy fucking shit, what is happening to me?
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Pendulum.
27. What did you want and get?
A nice phone, and a better understanding of myself.
28. What did you want and not get?
A job. I didn't look hard enough.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
I didn't really see any movies that I really enjoyed. Not that I watched many movies. I'm not a movie person.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 19, and I don't remember. Birthdays aren't really anything special at my place. They happen all the time.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting a steady job.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Jeans, t-shirt, hoodie, work boots. Simple, sturdy, heavy clothes.
33. What kept you sane?
My friends, and when they couldn't be there for me, drowning myself in video games.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
That's not something I really do.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Couldn't say, I tend to keep to myself in these matters.

umbravita. I've never wanted to meet someone in person this much.

My boss, Aaron. Best fucking boss ever.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
It helps to step back and look at myself from a different perspective. Being meta makes it so much easier to work through issues.

Spent a long time trying to come to a decision on this one. I listened to a lot of music this year, but most of it was pretty dissonant from my actual situation. In the end, I found a short lyric that I think summed up my overall thoughts...
