Christmas surprise.
Dec. 19th, 2011 02:32 pmWhen I was staying in Brisbane, I met a few people I know from Twitter. Among them were Biana and Geoff, a couple who live on Bribie Island but happened to be in town that day.
Last week, Bee asked me what I was doing for Christmas. I told her that my family didn't celebrate Christmas, hadn't for years (apparently my parents' denomination of Christianity has a problem with it, wtf), and that I really missed it. Not even the presents or anything, just the spirit of Christmas in general. Y'know, the anticipation, the waking up early in the morning for pancakes (my dad ALWAYS made pancakes), the family gathering and Christmas lunch (which was a barbecue at my grandparents' place, as a family tradition), etc etc.
Anyways, Bee laughed and said she'd send me some candy canes, so I gave her my address. (This was, as I said, just a few days ago.) Not twenty minutes ago, I got a little package in the mail. It contained some candy canes, a Christmas card, and a small wrapped present. I felt kinda giddy going through it. The card had the 'usual' "wishing you the very best" message on it, and the candy canes had a bit of tinsel tied around them, and it brought back so much nostalgia. The li'l present's sitting on my shelf, waiting till the 25th to be opened. Everything feels almost exactly like it did back when I was a kid, it's fantastic.
This is the first Christmas present I've recieved since I was twelve, and I'm so fucking happy right now. XD
