I was going to catch a ride with Dad to the city, but he left earlier than usual, and I thought I'd missed him. Then Mum said he was still in Helidon because he had to get something, and I assumed he was coming back here. He wasn't, which I found out after our internet dropped out. Oh yeah, did I mention my net's dead ? I'm typing this on my wireless internet.
I tried to call Dad, but our phones aren't working, because we use VoIP. And my phone wasn't working because of the bill. By the time we found my mum's phone, he was already halfway to the city, and needed to be there to take my brother to a job interview.
Now I'm going to be late for class, because the next trip I can get into the city is with my sister, who starts work at 11. Class starts at 9:30. *sigh*

The course I am currently studing is a Certificate III in Community Services. It is aimed to train me to advocate for clients who need some sort of community assistance, find what they need, and set them on the right path to get it, as well as eventually taking them to independence and confidence. It also trains negotiation, empathy, how to make your client feel comfortable as you assist them, and how to adapt to their individual needs.
This is the broadest course, a sort of umbrella course. After this course is complete, ideally I would find a follow-up course to train me to specialise in a specific field of community services, such as case work, suicide prevention, mental health and psychology, aged or disabled care, or domiciliary assistance, just to name a few.
Now, if I'd gotten into this course by choice, I wouldn't be too thoughtful about this. But I had originally aimed to go straight into disabled care, and got into this course by accident, only to find out that it would be immensely useful.
There are a whole lot of other things going on as well, including a potential job which might be reviewed today, as well as some Centrelink setup to do, and overall things are moving along very quickly. While the direction was not expected, it's not unwelcome, and I'm interested in seeing where all this will take me.
